I look with envy at the old lightweight starting blocks which have (I imagine) holes where the spikes go through, so that the whole of the sole of the running shoe contacts the block.

My long spikes do not seem fully compatible with the standard modern easily adjustable starting blocks that I own and use.

I have problems with the spikes sticking into the green rubber pads - this was causing the blocks to jump out of their slots, so nowadays I sticky tape the blocks in place.

And today someone pointed out the bleeding obvious - the heel of my shoes are not contacting the block at all ... all my take off pressure is through the spikes ...

So I am on the lookout for the perfect set of old light weight starting blocks - any possibilities out there, please let me know.

In the meantime I will try to work on the way my feet contact the blocks - maybe I can change the leg angles just a little ...

My shoes have the sprinter-specific very stiff sole and are fitted with the grass-track-recommended very long spikes ...

Any clues from anyone?
