Many thanks to Greg Denehy for getting the SAAL results up on ProTrack again.

As well as his great photographic coverage through InClose photography ...

Greg, all of us in the SAAL owe you a big debt of gratitude.

Second that as well.
Makes it a lot easier to follow the SAAL when results are up nice and early and regular as well.
Also we need to acknowledge the work Youngy was doing as well before Greg took over.
Great to be able to view all results so quick.
With Gregs coverage its very interesting to match the heats, semis and final times up to see who really tried and who didnt , believe it or not there seemed to be a few handbrakes out, Ill let you work it out.

Thanks Whispers.

Must apologise to Mick Buckler & the McKinnon crew. I couldn't stay for long on Sunday. I had a family commitment to attend to. With the meet being the week before Easter I needed to spend some time at home.

Really appreciate Greg's posting of the results. I know how hard it is to key in every result including scratchings. There's several hours work that has gone into this. Great to be able to see how athletes have fared in heats within a day of the meet.

Sad news. Hamstring injury for Alex. devastating the week before Stawell.

Probably misused the word handbreaking but it all makes interesting reading.
Could wind have played a part ,is it time to begin using a wind reading impliment.

Check out last position Womans 200m
Check out last 4 positions 200m Novice.
Obviously theres an acceptable excuse for all performances.
What is the acceptable drop in performance from heat to final.

As there have been a couple of Coastal Districts athletes mentioned in hand breaking let me make a quick comment that might shed some light on the subject.

200m Women Yasmin's final time was only 0.7 seconds slower than her heat time, which could easily be a simple change in wind conditions. Half of the final field ran slower in the heat than in the final. Maybe it is just that Yasmin has had such a great season that everyone is now starting to expect to see her at the front of all her races..

200m Novice Liam Wright also ran a 52.87 in the U20 400m between the heats and final of the 200m Novice. There was a discussion about whether Liam should run the 400m after making the final of the 200m but as a testament to the character of this young man he decided he was going to have a crack at both of them. The 400m run probably cost him a bit of extra pace in the 200m Novice final..

I hope that sheds some light on the subject, I would be interested in hearing some other opinions on the matter

Hey Steve

I have no comment on the other stuff, just wanted to say well done on your win in the o/35 200m. Is that your PB?... 21.72 is a great time maybe a Pulteney record!, certainly the fastest in the last 3 years.

Good work

Wow a record, that would be incredible. I don't know if that is my fastest ever time, I probably ran quicker in my younger years I definitely plan on running faster next season but I will need to as I expect my handicap will suffer after the win, as it should.. I would be interested to know if it is a record, I noticed it would have been fast enough to get me on the podium for the novice race, I haven't run a 200m open race though so I am not sure what my handicap would have been for that race. Maybe something to look at for next season

Terrific track conditions and tail wind on Sun. Winner now has the record for the 200m at Pultney as much as Im aware of.Conditions enabled quite a few runners to better the previous record.
Well Done Steven.
Can understand you Steven sticking up for stablemates but the facts are in the times.Four girls ran quicker in the final,One almost did and one was way off the pace.Go through the results it certainly wasnt half the field running slower.
And Yasmin won the 70m on the day so I guess you could say she was a form runner rather than one that was training off.
Should have mentioned a couple of 70m runners as well but dont want to do the homework for everyone.

A week out from stawell i don't see much point in pulling up the hand break!
maybe before bay marks or camden but you should be aiming to have a 'thorough' heat out the week leading to the biggest footrace in Australia.

Any top athlete would always keep the bay as a goal. Not everyone can win stawell or even make the final so obviously the next big goal would be firing come Christmas time
