C’mon Discobull you should be getting behind the big name Backmarkers. Thought you loved seeing the backmarkers in the red vest get up. Or was that Hey Hey? Was one of you two blokes anyhow. I wanna see him in the final off a fair mark and given every opportunity.

Aren’t they the same person?

Re Woodhams, he would need to have improved a fair bit off his Bendigo run to be the favourite...

Spot on XXL I was thinking they were the same person too. He may have been Fishbowls as well at one stage. But I think he may have drowned Rolling Eyes

Very funny, just discobull. All my other 8 accounts are inactive or retired. Or are they. Love the banter. Interesting I know a few or you key board wizards as well.

No Allen in that list. Special announcement??

It’s all good fun Scotty. Seriously I Hope Despard Riali and Dooley all run well and your two girls as well. And I’m sure Maddie will do the country proud at Comm Games so congrats to you and the results your crew have got and may get in the future. It’s a testament to their hard work and your dedication, efforts and program. Good luck Buddy

What a huge weekend it was for pro running!

Gary Finegan comes out at Euroa and steamrolls the field in the red. Dashing many hopes along the way.  Must be firming in to favouritism by this stage.

U.S Olympic hurdler Devon Allen drops a 10.26 PB in Sydney sending shockwaves down to Victoria. Will the extra 20m be too much for him to handle? Can he go faster?

The man they call “Despacito” Jacob Despard salutes in a slick win over a strong field in the 70m final at Euroa. This coupled with his performance at St Albans, shows that he is moving better than ever and is ready for the main event on Easter Monday.

There is also one name who has barely been mentioned this season. He has been handicapped to run 12.15 (he can do this in the wet too by the way). Has slowly got back to near the mark he needs. Time will tell if he lets it go this year or waits in the shadows yet again.

Make of that, what you will.

Despard to run 12.3. One to watch will be Bikramjeet Singh. Impressive heat at wang (12.47 off 10.5m) easing off 30m out and beating Dunbar (went on to make final) and Phelan comfortably before scratching with “cramp.” And then coming out two weeks later to win the Keillor 70m (7.62 off 6.25m) and has not being seen since his double false start in the don. Does come back to the limit but did beat Jack Hale in a heat at Stawell in 2015 off 9.5m. Looks to be in his best shape this year and will be tough to catch off the limit.

Despard ran 12.26 in 2015 off 4.25. He is going better this time around and has the extra quarter. 12.20 or better when he pulls the trigger.

Some of the marks handed out for this gift are mind blowing though. I can’t be the only one noticing it. No one has mentioned it?

Not just the gift! The other sprint events too. They’re even worse. Some completely random handicaps that make no sense. Almost like they are mistakes?

Not just the Sprints, the Circle events are mind boggling.
Would be very suprised if someone from outside Victoria can win a sash in the Circle events.
The interstaters have certainly been stitched up this year.

Way I see it.
Certain finalists
Despard
Rizzo
Finegan
Baird
Matthews
The last spot from Wyllie, Adams, Sonsini, Eschebach, Woodgate, or a Currmbin Vikings runner.

VIC - most chances and will provide most finalists.
SA - no chances. Woodhams, Houlihan, Tronnolone semis only.
WA - no chances. Panizza best, semi only.
TAS no one besides Despard.
NSW - no chances. Newman boys best of them, semis only.
QLD - Finegan/Currumbin/Woodgate/Eschebach - could be two in final.
ACT- Matthews

Baffling handicaps

...Runner backed into 2nd favourite last year off 8.5m,

...runs 12.29

...Comes back 0.5m

...Evidently now handicapped better then 95% of the field

...ludicrous

Throw in Woodgate to the final. His 10.87 pb stacks up well against Finegan and Despard when he is off 7.25m.
Grubnic was not mentioned last year and had a 10.84 pb and was off 7.00m coming 3rd in the final.

Gilfillan was cleary the best of last years non finalling semi finalists running 12.29 off 8.50m

Last year no-one mentioned Voumard and Campbell who were both off 10m. They showed little through last year but were impressive in the previous years (2016) Stawell semi finals. Voumard also won the 2016 Bill Howard beating Romanin.

Gilfillan on last years form is a massive chance which makes Matthew Currie look good too. Currie beat Gilfillan 1m over 100m in January.
Gilfillan and Currie for me.
Delahunty's mark might be against him.
All have shut down and not competed for a while.

Even though you mentioned 10 athletes untouchables, not one of them will beat Rizzo let alone make the final. If you're this drunk come Easter, come and see me. I'll give you good odds for all those runners you mentioned.

We should also be looking for a former finalist to final again and maybe win.
Some recent examples.
Camille 4th off 12.00m with field up 2013 - 5th off 9,75m 2014
Dunmall 6th off 8.00m 2014 – wins 2016 off 6.75m after winning Stonnington 100m in 2015.
Sanderson-Milera 5th off 7.00m 2015 – 2nd by a whisker 2016 off 5.75m
Rizzo 5th off 8.00m 2016 – wins 2017 off 7.50m

This years potential contenders;
Matthews finalled but scratched off 7.00m 2009 - 6th off 5.75m 2010 - 3rd off 6.75m 2015 – Has 7.50m this year
Eschebach 6th off 9.50m 2013 – 6th off 6.75m 2015 – has 7.25m this year
Houlihan 2nd off 7.25m 2015 – has 6.00m this year

Woodhams 2nd off 7.25m 2010 – has 8.00m this year
Ware 2nd off 10.25m 2011 – 4th off 9.25m 2016 - has 8.50m this year
Robinson 1st off 7.25m with field up 2013 – has 5.50m this year

Do I read this correctly?
2013
Robinson 1st off 7.25. Now has 5.5. BACK 1.75.
Eschebach 6th off 9.5. Now has 7.25. BACK 2.25
WTF? The guy who runs 6th is worse off than the guy who took 40K and the win? What has Eschebach done to deserve this?

Out of last years final, Campbell looks well placed. Came 6th off 10m and has 9.75m this year after being unsighted this season.
Riali back 1.75m
Grubnic back 1.50m
Romanin all back 3.25m (includes winning Maryborough).
Rizzo back 3.00m. Has shown he handled the handicap pull winning Sandringham before a blistering 70m at Northcote off 1.00m.

I just think he can not do it, because he is in the middle of the field, pressure all around and I believe he hasn't got the running form to handle the that pressure. Then again, he might way too good for them. But I think there value out there to be taken. That's good if he wins good luck to Rizzo. I really don't care who wins to tell you the truth. I'd rather see one of my brothers horses win another group one instead.

This years potential contenders;

Eschebach is handicapped to run just under 12.40 for running all season every season. Robinson runs dead for 5 years running 12.9s or higher and get his handicap back to where he will under 12.20, remember he ran 12.01 (11.85 raw) to win

Eschebach making the 2015 final as well probably sent him further back in the marks Whatsboutmemrhandicapper
