Hipster Doofus

No doubt you have the statistics on hand and can quickly share with us all the number of Junior Race Entries along with 120m Restricted Entries at the Bay Sheffield for Season 2017-18?

I'm interested to see the comparative numbers within SAAL vs VAL ranks?

Junior and Restricted Entries at Stawell this year as follows:

* 100m U18 Boys- 51 Entries
* 100m U18 Girls- 52 Entries
* 100m Bill Howard Restricted- 98 Entries

Without any doubt the future of our great sport of Pro Running lies within Junior Development and having the correct pathways in place from Little A's through to Pro Junior Races and Restricted Races and then of course into Open company!

Without any doubt the greatest example of an athlete that has progressed from Little A's into Pro Junior Races and then into Open company and in particular the Stawell Gift is Matt Rizzo, perhaps Matt can share his transition and journey with us all?

(Please don't feel obliged Matt, as you have a back to back Stawell Gift to prepare for, good luck in your pursuit in going back to back.)

Youngy, perhaps we can look at some historical data in relation to Entries to see if the SAAL and VAL numbers are trending in the right direction.

2017 Bay Sheffield Junior entries

* 120m U18 Boys- 70 Entries
* 120m U18 Girls- 46 Entries
(Combined entry of 116)
* 120m U14's - 40 Entries

For most meets the SAAL separates the Under 18's into boys and girls. At Loxton it's a combined event. I think the VAL has most of its under 18's as combined events but its gradually introducing split races where the numbers justify.

Without checking for sure, I can definitely say I have many more athletes to handicap than I did when I started doing the juniors 4 years ago.

Does anyone having any experience with juniors competing in Aus Pro's and applying for american college scholarships?
