In  nearly 40 years in the sport these are undoubtedly the worst set of handicaps I've seen anywhere.

My athletes will cease entering after this week. Complete and utter waste of time to be involved in a sport that has been shredded of its integrity and credibility.

There's dozens of anomalies and this is just one example of how bad they are - In the 1600m, the lad who ran 3-48 off 415m has been pulled 60m. Runner-up Tom Lancaster (3-55), who was beaten by 7 SECONDS, has been pulled back 65m.

If anyone is happy about what SAAL are doing, it would have to be VAL. I sense a huge number of quality South Australian runners who will be jumping the boarder to run.

IMO. Its all complete madness and in free fall.
I completely agree with you Youngy as are many, many others. Infact every single person I have spoken to is in complete agreement.
I feel the current committee is on borrowed time if things dont change for the better and change quickly!
An athlete that comes 2nd gets a bigger pull than the athlete that won???
Calculating handicaps is not difficult, well at least not the old guys, using mps is not a new thing. With all the previous data from seasons gone by obtaining an average mps and therefore calculating a handicap should not create these massive anomalies.
I calculated the time I would run based on my average mps and the handicap I was given at the Port and I was within .003 others I calculated all fell within a .05 time difference.
It doesnt take an expensive "system" to get handicaps right. Just passionate people that have a keen interest and a little understanding.
If mps is being calculated correctly and a handicap is handed out based on the mps then why are athletes being given a handicap that has them all likely to run different times on a massive scale to the tune of over 1 second for a 100 and this is on athletes with plenty of data.
Why are so many running under Nett?
Nett times are in place for a reason, previous data/results should easily provide the mps to calculate handicaps to close to Nett. There should always be a buffer between what is being run and Nett.
Nett for the 100 mens and Novice is 10.3, every athlete in the final for the 100 mens and 100 novice either ran under nett or too close to it.
Apparently we are all embracing the new handicap system?? Apparently the races have been close? Apparently with the 3rd meet almost upon us the handicapping will get better?
I feel for the "integrity officer" he's in way over his head. Im sorry but he just isnt going to know when the handicaps come through whether they are right or wrong, its too much for 1 person, its why we had 3 handicappers previously.
Handicaps for the open above 17 or 18 meters for a 120m is beyond comprehension but 20+ is also complete madness, its embarrassing.
I know of 2 other stables looking to pull the pin after the Bay if things dont get sorted by then. It would be a shame to see 2 major stables including Youngy's lot and a medium size stable pulling out.
I wonder if Patrick Liptak is still keen to head the league?

Thankyou for giving me the opportunity to make a comment.

I'd hope that no one from the VAL would be happy with these handicapping issues, as issues from one league do no favours for the sport as a whole.

I would assume that we, as pro runners, would like to be able to travel anywhere in the country to compete if we so desire, and know that we will be handicapped fairly, in accordance to a "system", which is monitored by common sense and experience.

I does however highlight a benefit though, towards the possible unification of a national handicapping system.

I accepted for a race this morning and have waited for my confirmation email all day, ended up checking my junk mail and found it there. It's funny, even my emails know the system is RUBBISH!!!!

Going on the Marks from the Bay, Hatchard had to win.

Of those Girls that broke net down at the Bay , yes I know of the tail wind , Hatchard was by far best off

Whittingham  Bay Mark  7.00m   Kensington 3.00m won Stawell 70m
McMillian 7.00m                                          4.25  won Bay
T Stallan  11.50                                           11.25
Hatchard  7.00m                                         8.00m
Phillis        8.50                                           6.50
Lemm        9.50                                           8.50
C Stallan    9.00m                                        8.75

Phillis considering she hasnt won a big event was by far the worse off.

So Whittingham back 3m for winning a 70 & McMillan only back 2.75m for winning the Bay?

Let me warm up my vocal chords..
There's something not right about a 1st year runner having their first start at Port Adelaide, a Novice runner, given 4m in the 70m on the weekend but be given 16.75m in the 120m to place 2nd overall. Had to be an error in the system.. Not that particular runners fault here. All the other runners are making a donation to the #SAALLOTTO #IVOTEDLIPTAK
