Loxton 25th Feb 2012

Ray Earle scored his first SAAL sash in a very competitive finish to the Loxton Irrigation Centre Over35 300m.

Second was Alex Jefferies finishing fast over the top of his Team Townley training partners Lyn Peake and Brett Stokes.

Pocket Rocket Lyn Peake dived for third and hit the ground hard, and she was too injured to go on the podium.

Brett Stokes, who won this race last year off 55m, had seven more metres to travel this year, and ran a ferociously fast first fifty metres and nearly caught Ray Earle before the turn but was forced to run wide and stayed a half metre behind Ray Earle all the way down the finishing straight, as Ray Earle just overtook Lyn Peake and just held off Alex Jefferies.

Well done Ray.

And Alex and Lyn are both due for sashes soon.

1 Ray Earle off 59
2 Alex Jefferies off 42
3 Lyn Peake off 75
4 Brett Stokes off 48

also in the final were
Cheryl Zeuner off 86
Sue Turner off 62
John Turner off 44
Cameron White off 36

Monday midday -

The news is that Lyn Peake is stuck in Loxton hospital with 2 bad breaks to her upper arm near her shoulder requiring a metal rod.

She's waiting to get flown back to Adel to get fixed up ...

Also, in further news, it is looking like Lyn's dive for the finish line was not at all deliberate, but the result of contact with another runner. I apologise for any unintended implication.

In a twist of fate, Lyn's daughter Mandy is worrying about Lyn - in the past it has been Lyn who may have been concerned about motor cycle racing champion daughter Mandy's injuries.

"Who said racing bikes was dangerous???!!!
She should give up sprinting!"

Best wishes to Lyn for a speedy recovery.

And best wishes to Mandy as well.
