Tyson Gay claimed the first 100m win of his career over Usain Bolt in the DN Galan meeting at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm.
The American was quicker out of the blocks and pulled clear to win in a time of 9.84 seconds.
Jamaican world record holder Bolt never looked like catching his rival as he crossed the line in second in 9.97.
The triple world and Olympic champion's last defeat also came in Stockholm two years ago, to fellow countryman Asafa Powell.
Gay's time was a meeting record and 0.02 behind the world lead, held jointly by Bolt and Powell.
Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago was third in 10.10, but Britain's Marlon Devonish failed to make it through the heats, finishing fifth in 10.32.
