Maryborough Gift - Analysis and Tips ?

Now that the SAAL circus has passed, our focus can move to the time honoured Maryborough Gift where we will see quality racing from athletes with marks earnt over time, fair and reasonable stewarding, and a running community with confidence in its systems and engaged in the athletic contests on the track.

A few notable absentees from recent finals opens the door for a few of those around the mark.

Omuvwie pulled back to 3.5m after his win at Queanbeyan has showed good form this season with a second behind the impressive Max Mason at Hastings, a close second to Schlanders in a Bay semi and the aforementioned win. If he backs up well from his recent travels he should go close.

Konteh obviously won't run off 10m (more like 3m) but showed he's on track this season with a 70m win and second in the gift at Waverley. Does he want to win here though? I feel like he wants another crack at Stawell which he can't win from 3m so expect to see him final but just fall short.

Richards is interesting. Just missed at Terang behind Houlihan who went on to make the Bay final. Has another 0.25m for New Years day and looks to have kept his legs fresh by not running at the Bay. No surprise to see him on the podium.

Chris Vi another likely finalist but your winner likely comes from above.

Lemm should win the Women's looking at Bay Sheff results. I see Molly Farmer listed on the VAL website handicaps but no mention of her in the Bendigo article. Anyone know if she's running & where she's been?

Farmer ran at Maryborough and Daylesford last season. Not sure is she competed in VIC after that.

Hopefully organisers will continue the prize money build for the women’s gift. A disappointing entry list at 22 doesn’t help.
Agree Giddyup, Lemm owns this race with a potential 7m hcp for Easter on offer. Impressed all with her win at Bendigo in 2018 and is obviously back in good form and an improved athlete over 2 seasons.
Will be interesting to see how many women enter at Rye with 6k up for grabs and 3/4m for the bunnies, in another week.

Does Lemm keep her mark after winning 2.6k at the Bay?

Shouldn’t get pulled for coming 2nd at Bay. She has run the VIC ceiling time off 7.75m, so 6.25m VIC hcp is okay.
May incur a larger discretionary penalty if she wins on Wednesday, due to Bay prizemoney.
