I have checked with Rob Gel and the wind will definitely be providing assistance to the runners tomorrow. 250 tips is good and the spread could indicate a lot of the semi finalists.
Ryan Ilett - 6.5m 14% - We spoke about Ryan earlier this season. I feel that he will want to put in a good show and may be tempted with the bonus on offer. At his best he finishes in the top two. If he is close to his best he will final. Is this a season of grinding out the mark before picking off a metre early next season. He was stiff not to make the Waverley final. I can see him in the Rye final chasing the outmarkers.
Michael Romero 6.5m / Aidan Green 6.75m - 10% - Let's cut to the chase. Romero is no hope of winning here, these votes are likely for Green. Green 'Street Hooligan' is right in the window. There is a lot of Ross in him with regards to the way he is going about it. In 2002 many watched Ross win the Arthur Postle and put an asterix next to his name for 2003. We know what happened in 2003. Green won the Postle and has a similar mark to Ross. Is he ready to finish off a gift final? Or will he need a little longer to build his craft? I have him in the top three if he is ready.
Matt Burleigh 10m / Mark Giglio 10m - 11% - Burleigh has been everywhere recently and shown very good form. I feel that he will win something very soon and Rye may be the ticket. He was narrowly beaten at Burnie so should feature in the final as long as he has maintained his fitness and desire. Mark Giglio has only received votes due to being with Burleigh. I can't see Deuce Bigalow getting past the heats in this one. Burleigh top two, 'Male gigolo' heat only.
Tim Rosen 14.75m / Dominic Condello 15m - 12% - These votes are not for Condello. The 'King of the Gifts', 'Lazarus', The 'Prosthetic King', has overcome a double leg-ectomy to be fit for Rye. Rumour has it that he has had both legs removed through the week, greased and oiled and they are reattached and ready to pump. Rosen does speak honestly about his want to win. He does have a crack when he is fit. He is back on a mark that will have him close in many gift finals, he has won off this before. His 200m at Maryborough shows he is over his niggles and will be leading for a while in a semi. A final is not out of the realms of possibility.
Good luck.
