Downesy

One of Australia’s Track and Field icons, Maurie Plant, sadly passed away yesterday from a long illness.

Message from Maurie’s brother, Michael, on Facebook:-

“Today our family took the decision to withdraw life support for my brother Maurie Plant.
He had been in the icu on life support for last 3 weeks following a staph infection, which resulted in him entering septic shock. During this time he had also endured 3 strokes and kidney failure. The doctors at Frankston and St.V's need thanking for trying so hard to help, but in the end he wasnt responding to any stimulus. Maurie wasnt in any pain in his last days. We already miss him terribly”.

Vale Maurie Plant.
