I have said many times before that the Keilor final used to be one of the hardest gift finals to make. Having a scan through the entry list, this could be a good one.

Who do you have your eye on?

Very impressive in his heat at Ballarat, I wasn't there to see the semi however was told he looked smooth. Been told he has been set for this. 70/120 double? His almost back to his Stawell 70m runner up mark?!

11.62 with 1.8 tail

Even off 14m (which is Keilor limit) a semi win and final spot should be on the cards.

A sub 12.50 run would not surprise.

Didn't look overly excited after Gift semi frog man. A little more heat both in front and behind early in his race.

Would surely be building the 70m hcp out again - not this week with Castlemaine, Frankston and Bendigo coming up.

Interesting NAPs given out (or not) at Ballarat too for Men's Gift; heats to semis...

Daniel Sonsini 12.56 -> 12.68 (-0.12) NAP brk
Jesse Cordoma 12.71 -> 12.86 (-0.14) ap
Nicholas Antonino 12.49 -> 12.65 (-0.16) ap
Sebastian Baird 12.70 ->12.55 (-0.16) NAP
Luke Stevens 12.53 -> 12.71 (-0.18) NAP
Matthew Eddy 12.73 -> 12.91 (-0.18) ap
Jake Ireland 12.57 -> 12.84 (-0.27) NAP
Jordan Tronnolone 12.72 -> 13.00 (-0.28) NAP
Endale Mekonnen 12.70 -> 13.00 (-0.30) NAP
Noddy Angelakos 12.83 -> 13.14 (-0.31) NAP
Joel Bee 12.64 -> 13.04 (-0.40) NAP

Reading January VAL newsletter an accepatable deviation sprint between races (heat to semi/final) is 0.1 sec??? scratch  scratch

On the money El Chapo, Antonino will wait for the Stawell 70 again and most likely will run off 7.25m and I don't see how anyone could beat him off same mark a year stronger. Is he a sure thing? Can I get some odds now?

keilor
Boulton will be very hard to beat after Parkdale efforts, If he is feeling fresh and ready to go then I have him covering this field with ease.

Antonino not yet strong enough to go with the big boys over 120. Better in the 70.

Adams looking good, impressive on the wkend .

But Chris Vi will be all over this like white on rice. Had the field beat except for Hanna. new muscle man for me.

Is the handicaper bl...Dy serious. Only pulling boulton .75 for winning $2500. Surely not. Give him the cash now.

0.75 is the normal penalty for a $5000 Gift ($2500 first place in this case). As it was his first 120m Gift win, the handicapper has obviously decided not to add any discretionary pulls (his other win was a 200m Gift)

Also I think you’ll find Jack will be racing a 400 tomorrow night in Canberra as part of his quest to make the Australia World Junior Team. Bigger fish to fry than the gift circuit for this young gun

Oh he's strong enough alright, ran a 12.48 against the likes of sonsini and riali in his heat, he also qualified second fastest. You just have to believe in yourself Nick! Looking forward to seeing what you produce this weekend!

Keilor never disappoints and the heat will be on this weekend. Tough final to make this one and there will no doubt be a few unlucky semi finalists.

Final

Dunmall 4.5
Might be ready to unleash here. A Keilor gift win would add to an already impressive resume.

Sclanders 6.25
If Sclanders makes the trip he could be dangerous if he brings his bay form. His 70m win at Stawell in 2016 was one of the most impressive I've seen. In my not so humble opinion he's DQ from Bay is the worst decision I have seen in pro running during my time. Could say plenty more on that matter but there's another thread for that.

Adams 6.75
Has built some nice form and will be right in the mix. Could he emerge as the 'real show' out of Team Ireland? Maybe a bit more work on the strut first.

Lugo 8.25
Ran off 8.5 at Ballarat so must have the same here. Big chance.

Burleigh 9
With big Chris Vi moving well in front there should be enough cover for Burleigh to chase another final this week.

Vi 10.5
If the 'real muscle man' is still leading with 40m to go I think he'll win this. His back end has been pretty solid and shows what you can do with a bit of discipline cutting apple krumble out of the diet.

Bit of talk about Antonino but not quite ready yet for me.

11.19 hand for everyone’s favourite front marker tonight! He should go well here off 15m, only has to run another 5m. Didn’t catch the wind but looks to be in good form.

11.19 from Rosen? was this time official? if so where was this run. If true then this puts him well and truly the one to beat.

Was that for his 80m fly warm up in back straight???
Only see a DNS for Randy in Race C.

The 'real muscle man' posted an 11.33 - outright favourite for Sat now; circa 12.40

btw the boys 120m start grid stops at 14m

So this time was run officially along with Chris Vi? if so then 11.19s is a big PB and a handicap re-evaluation ? We have not seen this kind of form from him before, i'm not sure if I would believe. Vi however moving well and should be close once again this weekend.

Well that was entertaining as I hopped into bed 😂. The h stands for hand time guys! Settle down. A few photo finish issues with AV tonight not capturing a number of the times unfortunately. So resorting to hand times. Illegal tailwind for the record. And yes the Keilor Gift limit is 14m. And yes it’s nice to be moving a bit better after a shithouse few months. Don’t think I’ll get the chocolates this weekend, but I’d be disappointed if I didn’t make a final or get very close. Cya there Smile

So I have to submit hand times from training? Ok EATR 🤦‍
Sorry for getting excited that I’m finally running better and posting it on my Instagram.
After battling injuries that took me to the point of considering whether I will bother continuing to race I was just excited and letting some friends and family know. Next time I’ll go train in the dark and play games hey? 🙄
I probably won’t be good enough to win Keilor so if you’re worried about me then you’re wasting your time Smile
FYI I ran 11.62 +1.8 at Essendon last Saturday and was stoked with where I’m at all things considered. Which id say is equivalent to the hand time I posted tonight.
