STAWELL - New Stawell Gift Hall of Fame office manager Robin Kelly has settled in nicely into his first role since moving to the town in May last year.
Growing up in Stawell, Mr Kelly returned to the town mid-last year from Melbourne and has enjoyed every bit of it.
Being appointed as office manager, the 66 year-old, who recently retired from credit management, said the job and move to Stawell was an easy transition.
"I've been coming to the Stawell Gift on and off all my life, I have cousins here. I just like it here, it's a warm and welcoming town," Mr Kelly said.
"Originally I was asked to come here (Hall of Fame) three and a half days a week, but I'm here most days and I'm thoroughly enjoying it too."
Mr Kelly, who took over from Bob Power, said his role involved anything to do with the Hall of Fame, including escorting groups through and making sure everything was in full working order within the place.
"The Hall of Fame is a priceless exhibit that too many people take for granted within the town. People here should be proud of it and utilise it a lot more, that's what it's there for," he said.
"Since the Information Centre came down here the girls who work there have been great, they put in a lot of effort to make sure this place remains a big asset to the community. They don't have to help out but they do."
Since starting in June, Mr Kelly has been busy helping prepare the Stawell Gift this Easter and cannot wait until the big weekend of racing arrives.
