Bailey, Hignett, Mair, Rosen and Woodrow, not sure if this will be accurate this week, but here goes.
Jason Bailey 9m (17 votes) - Has been close on a couple of occasions this season already. Will likely final but yet to show that he can finish off a race. Is this his problem?
Mark Hignett 10.5m (12 votes) - Showed early form (has he lost a 70m race this season?) and must be a chance of winning a gift at some stage this season. Chance of a final again here.
Craig Mair 14m (11 votes) - If he is fit then he is in with a real shot like a number of veteran runners I guess. Would smash Rosen off the blocks if they were to line up next to each other. Veteran runners like Mair are always dangerous when they near the limit.
Tim Rosen 14m (22 votes) - Poll favourite, but I am not sure he will win. He is either waiting for something else (a $5K gift not enough?) or is injured. Ran a very good 200m earlier in the season and simply must be winning off his mark at some stage (he has 10m in the 70m too so should pick something up there as well). Missed out big at Warragul when he should have been in the mix. One to watch.
Shane Woodrow 9.25m (10 votes) - Could add his name to the vast number of Ararat and Ballarat runners who have won this race. Not sure that it is really high on his priority list though as his mark is pretty handy and within the limit of all major gifts. Watch this space.
There are a couple of interesting runners this week, lets have a look at them
Matt Carter 1.25m (2 votes) - won Rye off 2m in 12.3 (adj) earlier this year. If anywhere near fit could run away with this one as not many athletes are running 12.6 yet. Huge chance and probably my pick (yep I was one of those who voted for him) if he runs and is close to fit.
Jay Blake 15m (6 votes) - in 2012 Jay won the Terang gift off 15m. With the same mark and being a little older and stronger over the Sheffield distance he could be thereabouts.
Robert Lehmann 10m (5 votes) - Previous winner (twice I think) who may have another go at the other local gift. 10m may be too tight at this stage of the season? Or if it is not, does he have another crack at a major?
