In Rieti yesterday, Jeff Riseley became only the the third Australian to run sub 1-45. His 800m time of 1-44.64 is the 2nd fastest ever behind Ralph Doubell's 1-44.40 at the Mexico City Olympics in 1968 and the fastest time ever by an Australian at sea level, eclipsing Peter Bourke's time of 1-44.78, recorded at the Brisbane Commonwealth Games in 1982.
