Well done to Darryl on resurrecting the Castlemaine gift. Not sure how many were around when it was last run but it was a pretty good gift during its time. Who do you like?

If your tip to wear the blue makes the final off the back of this dislocation of the ankle, (thanks to a footy collision) it will be a miracle. He's lucky to be walking let alone running.

Agree Hubbaup that post from Youngy needed a warning some images maybe disturbing.

Feel for him that looks quite nasty, lets hope it is not as bad as it looks and the healing process is swift.

Yeah, sorry about that. I agree - I should have provided a warning.

I was there on the day, saw it happening and it was very distressing. Even for someone like me who has been 'around the block' a bit and seen my share of injuries, on and off the field.

He's pretty tough, Sclanders, as evidenced by running in the 2012 Bay Sheffield final with stress fractures that were tantamount to breaks and he only got through with several pain killing injections administered on the day.

But that was nothing to the pain he experienced when he went down against Kangarilla midway through this year. The ankle was at an angle that made it looked like it had snapped. Because of where the game was played in the Adelaide Hills, it took nearly 40mins for the ambulance to arrive. It was an excruciating wait because there was no way of really alleviating the pain. Just taking the sock off - which revealed what we see in the picture was incredibly difficult.

He's come through OK after several months of rehab but badly lacking in any real running fitness. Don't expect much.

We wouldn't be going but Daryl Nettleton called me to asked about getting some SA athletes to Castlemaine. I haven't been there for about 25 years, so looking forward to it.

Well that's good that Tom is up and running again. I thought it was something a bit more recent but being a footy injury I suppose it had to have happened in the winter some time. Amazing that he is actually back into it already. Good luck to your boy Youngy,he must be a tough kid

The Castlemaine Gift was last run in 2000.
1st Peter Walsh 3.00m 12.40 (12.42 semi)
2nd Ashley Rowan 3.25m 12.48 (12.29 semi)
3rd Matthew D'Astoli 6.75m 12.48 (12.32 semi)
4th Greg O'Keefe 8.50m 12.51 (12.29 semi)
5th Scott Beaven 9.00m 12.55 (12.36 semi)
6th Steven Warden 5.75m 12.60 (12.43 semi)

1999 Gift
1st Marcus Cooper 9.50m 12.24
2nd Darren Paull 7.00m 12.26
3rd Evan King 3.50m 12.29
4th Scott Beaven 9.50m 12.32
5th Craig Brown 10.00m 12.53
6th Brian Mong 8.50m 12.70

Useless facts:
- In the 100m novice, of the 23 starters only 2 are still running today. Craig Mair and Cam Dunbar.
- A young lass phoned Darryll (organiser of the meet) to request the colors of the 400m womens sash be 2 tone purple and pink. This information was relayed to Katie Moore who subsequently went on to win the event. The young lass who requested the sash did not make the final.
