What a great women's gift final. One of the best fields ever assembled. Multiple classic winners and four runners off 4.75m or less. Only one meter separating the field at the finish. Congratulations to all girls

Honestly best finals I've seen all year. Quality racing week in week out

Amazing how some get a 0.5m lift then can find an extra 3m in a week though.

Its a bit like watching The Sting each week with Paul Newman and Robert Redford and the best part of it is that they think we don't know whats going on. Twisted Evil

Haven't watched The Sting in a long time. I love the way Redford wakes up Newman early on.

Three athletes look to have had nice lifts between Castlemaine and Rye. Two scratched at Castlemaine so must have been owed lifts. One received a metre the other half to go with the mentioned, or more to the point, not mentioned athlete who also received a half metre.
3m in a week. Could be to do with the conditions. Hot at Castlemaine and a big tail wind at Rye. Every runner copes differently.
We have a transparent system. It is just a little cloudy at times. scratch

Mex....I've been backing "lucky Dan " ever since, just can't seem to recapture his "sting" form.

Facts are Mex the Mystery Runner was towelled up by Stevens by over half a second at Castlemaine then beats her at Rye with only 0.25m advantage as Stevens was also given a lift. Maybe JH had Kirsty in an ice vest to combat the stifling heat at Castlemaine I don't know. Ha ha love this sport. I must say it was a cracking final though with great runs from all the girls especially the three place getters

from where I was watching on saturday, it looked like a certain athlete threw the race in the 70m restricted final.

With the very favourable tail winds, there were some pretty quick times at Rye on Saturday. Here are the top 10 fastest 120m Open results.

Be fair, he had trouble acclimatising to the Rye heat. Looked to me he suffered heat stroke just before the finish.
He'll be better in the cooler weather at Ballarat where there's a 120m $700 restricted. bom
