2nd October 2012 SOME of the finest athletes from across the country converged to compete in the highly anticipated Mulgowie Gift on Monday.
Making a welcome return after more than a six-year absence, the Mulgowie Gift did not disappoint, with crowds packing onto the Mulgowie Cricket Grounds to watch races unfold.
Athletes competed in a range of events including the Mulgowie Gift 120m handicap, the women's 100m, the Mulgowie 400m, the under-16 100m and the veterans 100m races.
Event organiser Lisa Noffke said it was great to see the event return to Mulgowie with crowds also enjoying a Family Fun Day.
"It was a fantastic day," Ms Noffke said.
"Everybody had a great day and there was a great showing of runners.
"We are glad to have it back and the support from the community and locals has been great."
Young speedster Scott Tuohy proved too good on the day, running hard to cross the line first in the Mulgowie Gift 120m Handicap.
Crowds also enjoyed a range of novelty races including hay bale races and ironman and ironwoman events.
