Bendigo Black Pearl Women's 400m

Another one of the feature 400m races on the circuit. Bendigo definitely has some quality races on offer. The 400m black pearl is another highlight for me. I do have an early quinella but the comments will depend on the voting. Who are the main chances? Who will skip the 120m in favour of the pearl? I think we saw the winner at a recent carnival run behind the winner. Who do you think?

I was told that the bendigo 400mt track is a fast one and that they sometimes have a track/time  adjustment for it. Is this still the case and when do they decide ?

Let's get this done. With a big weekend of running we have a big night of reading. The Women's Pearl is a great race and this final will be a great spectacle for our sport. 3 clear favourites so why can they win?

Jessica Payne 20m 11% - 'Feel the' Payne will be right in this one. Why she will win - I would expect her to go out hard and find a way to get the job done. I want to preface this by saying that Molica was a great winner at Stonninton but if you watch the footage Payne follows her the entire way. Jess will go harder in this one. Why she will not win - there is a big 400m race in a month. If she thinks this is her go she may wait. Who doesn't want a Stawell sash? Verdict - Podium

Czenya Cavouras 22m 13% - The South Aussies are coming! Why she will win - Cavouras has what I believe to be a good mark. The author has a little form running second in the 300m recently at Loxton. Why she will not win - Pressure from Payne only 2m behind her. Verdict - Final

Jody Richards 37m 12% - Why she will win - A big mark for a young athlete. In the same 400m at Stonnington she went missing in the straight so I think she has some up her sleeve. Has the mark and the ability to win. Why she will not win - See comments for Payne? Verdict - Top four
