Hi Stokesy here.

Today at Hectorville - it was very hot, with the weather bureau posting a max of 39C.

Lyn Peake convincingly won her first SAAL sash, in the Retirement Strategies over45s 120m won last year by Brian Hart who started the race this year not as a competitor but as the man with the gun.

Lyn has shown great spirit with this come back from a shocking shoulder injury sustained almost one year ago at the finish of the 300m at Loxton.

Peter Biggs scored his first SAAL podium position with a desperate dip for second, falling after the finish line.

And Cameron White was the dark horse, returning to the 120m track after a long absence and running very well indeed to score third in the final ahead of Ross Hill-Brown, Brett Stokes and Alex Jefferies.

Later on in the busy schedule of events, Lyn's Team Townley training partner David Wilczek followed up on his second at Camden to take the Murray Pest Control over35s 400m sash.

David went out hard, leaving the other back markers behind as he bolted down the back straight and charged around the final bend to take the lead which he held to the finish line, just holding off fast finishing Salvador Jurado and David Miller.

Two years ago Team Townley's Peter Noblet won the over35s 400m while Brett Stokes won the 120m, so for Team Townley this was a pleasant echo of two years ago.

And as for the ongoing saga of Stokesy's back, I was a painful mess for my run in the Heats of the 120m, but after lots of liniment I was almost loose in the final ... so I have hopes of coming good for Loxton next Saturday with the current forecast for nearby Waikerie of a max temp of ... wait for it ... 37C ...
