The 4th Annual Noosa Gift with a $5000 purse was held at the grass track at the Girraween Sports Complex at Noosa Heads and attracted the largest field of athletes in our short history. It was great to see quality athletes such as Liam Gander, Isaac Dunmall, Ardyn Foy, Isaac Wholsen, Gary Finegan, Jordan Csabi and ladies Toea Wisil & Melissa Howard amongst the Gift Field of 72 entrants.
Strong early heats runs by Liam Gander (7.5m) of 10.95 secs and Zeke Riley (10.5m) of 10.81 secs set the tone for the day on a slighty damp track with the intermitent tailwind and hand times.
The 4th Noosa Gift Semi Finals had nine runners in each with results being, Semi 1: Gary Finegan (6m) 10.90sec, Semi 2:Liam Gander (7.5m) 10.87sec, Semi 3:Ben Hayward (6.25m) 10.98sec, Semi 4:Isaac Wholsen (6.5m) 11.03sec.

Tewantin and Noosa District Pipe Band played and marched the straight as the Finalist where introduced ahead of the start.
Silence at the start sequence then opened to shouts of encourgaement from the strong crowd as the running went along their way.The final saw a clean start and then Gary Finegan fight to encorach into the handicap of Liam Gander ahead of him. With the video official having to review to award Gander (yellow)with first place in 10.88secs in the final and Finegan (red) half a chest in second place at the gates.

The Carnival had a great atmosphere with over 200 entrants and junior events going on in between the QAL events. Great to the see the junior event handicaps over 70m, 110m, 900m and the 900m racewalk all providing equal chances for the young athletes.
The event was well attended by Brisbane and Gold Coast athletes and coaches along with many beach sprinters including the entertaining Alex Heads Beachies, so well done to all.  The Noosa Today, Sunshine Coast Daily, 7 Local News, and Win TV all provided great coverage of the event which is rapidaly becoming a signature event for the QAL in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast. Go Noosa Go !
See you next year for the 5th Annual Noosa Gift.
