Noosa Gift 2015
LATEST NEWS: James Woodgate wins 2015 Noosa Gift

Stawell Gift Semi Finalist James Woodgate  (green) of Tingalpa, Brisane has taken out the 110m 2015 Noosa Gift final into a headwind under lights. James running off a mark of 6.0m fought for the victory in a time of 11.46sec to claim the $3500 winners cheque. This was an improvement on his earlier heat and semi times, 11.58 and 11.54 respectively. He held off Rodman Teltull (white 5m) 11.56 in second and National Junior Long Jumper Darcy Roper (yellow 5.5m) 11.58 into third.

In fact he held off four of the events eight 8 backmarkers, Ben Hayward (4.25m), Nick Jannson (4.5m), Rodman Teltul (5.5m) and Darcy Roper (5.5m) who all powered their way through the eight heats and four semi finals to make the 8 runner final. James said that 'I was surprised to be wearing the green colour in the final knowing that there were four back markers now wearing red , white, blue and yellow behind me' and 'knowing these lightning guys were stacked  behind me just drove me to the finish line'.

James returned for his third attempt at the Noosa Gift and has now set his sights on making the National 110m Hurdle final early next year. Another hurdler in the Gift Final was Sunshine Coast University student  Summer Johnson (maroon 18.5m) 5th in 11.64 and Ruby Pandolphi (black 18.5m) 7th in 11.76sec were the first two females to make a Noosa Gift final in ite six year history. Johnson(18years) is a former Qld Little Athletics girls team captain and fist pumped the air as she sped through the semi final gates to make the Noosa Gift Final, she was elated !
With the finalists being introduced and piped to the start line by the Noosa District Pipe Band. The Carnival attracted over 200 junior and senior athletes who contested QAL events, 110m Noosa Surf Club Gift, 70m Pacific Ford Dash, 300m Murray Surveyors Gallop and AccomNoosa Ladies Invitation 110m. Total prize purse for the Carnival was over $11 000.

Eliminations early in the 33 degree afternoon heat included returning beach sprinter Conor Loughman of Mooloolaba (5.25m) in 11.85s, PNG female power house Toea Wisil (10.5) 11.85, and defending 2014 Noosa Gift winner Chris Mansell (5m) 11.88s.

The AccomNoosa Ladies Invitation 11.m Final was a charge to the line with winner Patricia Taea (7.5m) 13.19sec taking her second in three attempts at the coveted pink sash. Taea with the title of 'Sprint Queen of Girraween' finshed  only a chest ahead of stable mate Toea Wisil (scratch) for 2nd and sprinter Katie Colebourne (8.5m) for 3rd.

Athlete Leslie Snuderi (7.25m) in 7.58sec  took out the 70m Pacific Ford Dash final ahead of Toea Wisil (8.75m) 7.63sec in second and Shemiah James (6m) 7.64sec for third.

The Murray Surveyors 300m Gallop ran two heats with athletes then backing up 15 mins later for the final in a show of fitness for the winner Jarrod Whittaker (30m) in a time of 32.43secs. Maccan Clucas-Boyes (32m) 33.01sec in second and front maker Michelle Mackey (58m) 33.46sec in third. Jarrod was breathless and stoked with the winners coveted green sash and winners envelope containing a $1000 cheque. Not a bad days work for running two 300s with a 15minute  break in between, a true athletic test.
