Being from Vic, so obviously not there, what was the final of the gift like?
Grimwade found .5 of a second from semi to final, I would assume that Long-Scafidi coasted in his semi (running second in the final, but .6 slower in his semi compared to Grimwade).
It is good to see 70m run in a descent time (unlike in QLD Very Happy ). A couple of guys must have lost some time from semi to final , but that 'could' be as simple as a missed start I suppose.
Any comments about the day?

Track conditions were not great and there was a massive tail wind that was unpredictable all day. The track was not in the best shape either. Some lanes were better than others which might be the reason for the fluctuations in times.

People that caught my eye were Wallace Long-Scafidi who ran really well in both the 70m and 200m. Casey Whitaker also ran well in the 70m as did the likes of David Gross and Ali Saliu.

Back to the Gift distance at Reynella so should be fascinating. Some lads are going to have to train hard and find a bit of time if they plan to feature come December

Wallace Long Scafidi, off only 13m, was impressive and in the context of the event was the run of the race. The 200m at Flinders does suit him, having won it before so it's difficult to say at this stage how that transfers to a 120m.

To my mind, there was another runner in the 200 who, by the look of him, appears to have finally realised the importance of a solid winter training with a group. He's got a savvy coach and at this stage he is looking ominous.

Yes, WLS was definantly the performance of the day, not surprising really, looking at the stats. Thats his 4th finals appearance in as many starts in the 200 at flinders. Probably should of tipped him. Well done to Whittaker for his 70m performance aswell.

Reynella the next meet, the 120m is up for grabs, Stephen Thiel back to back? what are other peoples thoughts??

Robert Killmier also looked very impressive in the 800m. It's good to see him running well again!

There has been some good racing over all distances so far this season. Races, espcially the sprints, have been really tight which is good to see. It seems like the new handicappers know what they're doing.
